45 year old village get first community hall


SONGKING: The much awaited community hall at Songking that completed construction in 2009-10 was formally inaugurated by Minister for Food & Civil Supply Kamlung Mossang on April 2 in the presence of local public leaders and government officers. This was the first visit of Kamlung Mossang to Songking after assuming office as Minister. Funded under DoTC, the hall was constructed by Kharsang RWD Sub-Division at a cost of Rs. 9 lakh. A public meeting followed soon after the inauguration during which GB Songking-I Chetkhum Lungphi on behalf of the villagers submitted a 7-point memorandum seeking early redressal to the long pending woes inflicting Songking village under Miao administrative circle. The villagers of the 45 year old Songking village have been experiencing shortage of drinking water since decades and the memorandum demanded construction of lift water system or gravity dam. The demand also includes extension of electrical supply, construction of quarter for health sub – centre staff and VLW; irrigation facility and to provide free tea saplings. Former ASM Khamcha Kimsing suggested taking up mega drinking water project by tapping resource from nearby Rima River or get connection from Miao Township.
Minister Kamlung Mossang admitted that the demands placed by villagers were genuine and assured to look into it as per availability of fund
and conveniences. He however announced construction of staff quarters next fiscal including 1 km concrete channel for irrigation. He further advised villagers to go for rubber cultivation for sustenance and assured to bring experts from Rubber Board to the area to provide inputs on benefits from rubber trade and its marketability. ADC Miao Tayom Mara while congratulating executing agency RWD and villagers for getting the asset appealed them to maintain it to perfection. In terms of all round development, Miao Sub – Division is far ahead in comparison to other areas in the state; he said and lauded the leadership of Kamlung Mossang. Under his leadership, we government employees are safe, Mara said. ZPC Junpo Jugli urged the villagers to be sensitive towards every public asset while advising them to support each other and move on.
Others who spoke includes GB II Tsapha Kimsing, Ronnong Lingphi and ASM Nyilum Kimsing. The F171 Unit of CRPF based at Miao under the command of Inspector S.K Ali provided full proof security.
